Case 2000-3.
May. Stenella coeruleoalba (Striped dolphin). Bahía Ballena. One dead individual, gender not identified. The skull was collected by volunteers of San Isidro de Pérez Zeledón.

Case 2000-1.
January. Stenella attenuata (Spotted dolphin). Gender not identified. Multiangular photographs of the skull were taken.
Case 1999-7.
November. Stenella coeruleoalba (Striped dolphin). San Isidro de Puntarenas. 1 dead individual. The putrefied status made necropsy and finding out its gender in situ impossible. Its skull was collected.
Caso 1999-6.
November. Stenella coeruleoalba (Striped dolphin). Puntarenas centro. 1 alive male individual. Medical assistance was given during five days (hidratation and liquid food via probe, antibiotics administration, blood and nasal mucus exams), with the support of Estación de Biología Marina de la Universidad Nacional (UNA). Necropsy revealed a large quantity of blood coagula in lungs, caused by a virus. The complete animal was collected.

Case 1999-5.
November. Stenella attenuata (Spotted dolphin). Playa JacÛ. 3 alive individuals. A female died during its return to sea. The complete animal was collected. Necropsy revealed large quantity of blood coagula in lungs, caused by a virus. The other two individuals were returned to sea.

 

Case 1999-2.
February. Balaenoptera edeni (Bryde's whale). Playa Bandera, Quepos. 1 female individual. Stranded at 4:00 am, died at 6:00 am. Necropsy wasn't possible due to its size and closeness to wave line, which could cause high contamination. Local Government representatives buried the animal and burned it, the latter against indications given by PROMAR© personnel. Buried rests remain.
Caso 1999-1.
January. Stenella coeruleoalba (Striped dolphin). Playa Leona, PenÌnsula de Osa. 1 alive individual. Returned to sea. No external wounds. Picture by Andrés Rodríguez.
