Case 2001-3.
May. One adult of Sei's whale (Balaenoptera borealis) of unidentified gender was found at 6:00 a.m. in Playa Papaturro, BahÌa Salinas, Guanacaste. Died around 12:00 pm. Its skin was rubbed out due to friction and the presence of parasites on its dorsal fin. Necropsy was not done due to its size (18 m) and closeness to tide line. Case 2001-2.
May. Genus Stenella, gender not identified. Informant: Patricia JimÈnez (UCR). Dead dolphin and in the process of decomposition in Playa Azul, at the mouth of RÌo T·rcoles. A rope was found tied to its caudal fin. Found at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 22nd, completely decomposed.
Case 2000-7.
Tárcoles, North Pacific. Individual of the genus Stenella spp. Found decomposed.
Case 2000-6.
October. Stenella coeruleoalba (Striped dolphin). Isla Damas, Quepos. One adult dead individual, gender not identified. Severe knife cuttings on its side allowed the sight of its viscera.
Case 2000-4.
June/August. Stenella attenuata (Spotted dolphin). Playa Tambor. One alive male individual was found, which was returned to sea by Hotel Tambor representatives, who denied access to PROMAR©, once at the site. Three days later the same animal stranded again, dead already. Two months later PROMAR© visited the site again to take pictures of buried rests, still in the process of decomposition.
